The Houston Metropolitan Dance Company Announces Staff and Board Appointments
The Houston Metropolitan Dance Company (The Met) announced the promotion of Marlana Doyle to Artistic Director of the professional dance company effective immediately. Doyle has been a company member for more than 11 years. Her dance and administrative talents have been showcased in a variety of roles of progressing in responsible for the company. These include Dancer Liaison to the Board, Company Manager, Managing Director, to her appointment as Artistic Director. Doyle has been expanding The Met repertory by researching and then inviting renowned and emerging guest choreographers to set works on the company. This direction has allowed the company members to develop both their artistic and technical skills.On March 1, 2012, Rebecca Skupin Marcontell will step down from her current position of President of the Board to join the staff of Houston Metropolitan Dance Company as Director of Development and Board Development, and Adam Walker will assume the role of President of the Board. The Board and Executive Director Michelle Smith are actively involved in the development of a new studio for the company and school at 2808 Caroline. The new space will feature four studios, ample parking, and a restaurant and dance store. Rehearsal space will be available for rent for the Houston dance community.
